When I was younger I took the train all of the time for work. One of the downsides is what you mentioned. Sometimes delays caused me to be late for work. Without the delay it still look a long time to get to work. On one particular occasion I waited for the train as it was delayed yet again. When I got on, it was so humid I had to take off my suit jacket and tie. I asked the ticket agent why it was so hot. He told me the air conditioning went out and they still couldn't fix it but that was the reason for the delay. I told him they needed to contact dehumidifier experts and get the problem fixed or he'll have some incitement. He readily agreed but he wasn't the one to talk to.
